The Healing Power of Nature
Herbal medicine can be used for a wide range of health
problems.
Do you
suffer from any of the following?
- Arthritis or
other joint diseases
- Skin problems
e.g. eczema and psoriasis
- Heart and
circulatory diseases e.g. high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels
- Sleep problems,
stress, anxiety and depression
- Digestive
disorders e.g. I.B.S., constipation, Crohn's disease
- Respiratory
diseases e.g. sinusitis, chronic bronchitis
- Menstrual,
menopausal and other hormonal symptoms
- Urinary and
prostate problems
- Migraines
Why take plant medicines rather than conventional ones?
In
general, plants and herbs have little or no side-effects, are
gentler in their actions and can be very effective for many conditions,
particularly chronic ones like digestive problems, skin complaints, PMS,
menopausal symptoms, allergies, arthritis, circulatory problems, stress and
insomnia, frequent colds and infections.
It is
possible to take both conventional and complementary medicines
together if you and your G.P. are happy with this and I am trained to be
aware of drug/herb interactions.
The
first consultation takes around1 hour, and is completely private and
confidential. We discuss your general health, any specific concerns, your
diet and lifestyle and I will carry out any necessary physical examinations
in order to build up a complete picture.
If
necessary a herbal prescription will be prepared for you from mostly organically
produced medicinal plant remedies. It may be adjusted over time.
How long will it take until I feel the benefits?
Herbal
medicines often take longer than conventional ones as they will be working
on different levels, perhaps initially in the deep tissues of the body. The
aim is to bring the whole body into balance. Signs of improvement in
symptoms can appear within a few weeks for most treatable conditions.
Cost of Treatment
Your
first consultation of around 1 hour costs £30. Follow-up consultations of around ½ hour cost £15. Medicines cost from £5 to £10 pounds a
week. Concessions are available for children (half-price), and those
on a low income (sliding scale). Free
initial advice of up to15 minutes is available on request.
A spoon full of sugar... no need!
Herbs are nutritious as food as well as medicine. Add
the petals of marigold to soups and salads to add colour and its delicate
flavour.
